    The South Australian Chamber of Mines and Energy (SACOME) is the leading industry association representing the resource and energy sector.  SACOME are a small yet dedicated team that services the needs of approximately 130 member organisations, proudly advocating for and on behalf of the resources sector with true independence.

    Reporting to the GM Policy & Advocacy, this newly created role will lead the design, development and execution of policy strategies across the energy sector which are aligned with SACOME’s overarching objectives and Member interests, focussing on hydrogen, renewables, gas, nuclear, electricity and transmission.  Other responsibilities include:

    • developing evidence-based policy positions on key energy topics including energy security, market reform, decarbonisation and infrastructure investment;
    • identifying emerging issues and developing responses;
    • leading actions and innovative interventions to achieve the strategic policy priorities outlined in the 2030Vision;
    • creating and establishing well-considered and industry-supported policies that promote the growth and sustainability of the SA energy sector;
    • identifying, exploring and facilitating opportunities for cross-sector policy dissemination, driving informed strategic debate relating to key sector issues;
    • overseeing SACOME energy committee and working groups.

    Applications are encouraged from driven and versatile individuals with strong project management and data analysis skills, together with deep experience in the energy sector.  Either a consulting background or inhouse experience (industry or government), together with an understanding of policy development, advocacy and the regulatory process, will be highly regarded.  Formal tertiary qualifications in either energy, engineering, public policy, politics, economics, law or a related discipline will be considered favourably.  The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a proven ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, and be able to uncover needs, present solutions, handle objections and gain commitment.
