The City of Salisbury and wider northern region is entering a promising new era of growth and development.  With around $3b of state, local, and private investment currently underway or proposed, the City of Salisbury is focused on facilitating projects and initiatives that realise its vision to be a progressive, sustainable and connected community.

The $200m redevelopment of the heart of Salisbury will bring a range of new uses to the City Centre, giving local community and visitors the opportunity to live, work and be entertained in the heart of the City, surrounded by some of the best amenities in the northern region, including the brand new state-of-the-art Salisbury Aquatic Centre.

The City of Salisbury encompasses over 30 suburbs spanning 158.1km², with homes to 148,000 people.  It is the second most populated local government in metropolitan Adelaide and the fourth largest local government, making it one of the most significant Council areas in South Australia.

Reporting directly to the CEO, this is one of the most exciting and impactful second-tier leadership opportunities within the sector.  As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the General Manager Community Development will lead the delivery of social and community outcomes and develop relevant policy initiatives which support the needs of its diverse community.  Specifically, the role will execute a strategy to increase community health and wellbeing, create opportunities for learning and social connections, delivery of recreation outcomes and create linkages between social and economic development.

Applications are encouraged from accomplished and forward-thinking senior executives with a proven track record in complex and diverse community focused environments.  An adaptive leadership approach, together with exceptional relationship management skills to engage with multiple stakeholders and drive strategies that align with emerging social and community needs will be pivotal to succeed. The ability to apply a corporate lens to community outcomes in a local government context, is essential.  The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong business acumen in delivering social and recreational objectives, along with the ability to establish and nurture key partnerships across government and non-government sectors.
