    Australian Naval Infrastructure Pty Ltd (ANI) is the owner, developer and manager of ship and submarine building infrastructure in support of the Commonwealth’s continuous naval shipbuilding program.  Since being formed in 2017, ANI has developed an enviable reputation for delivering significant major projects and facilities.

    ANI is responsible for the expansion and modernisation of the Osborne Naval Shipyard into a world-class shipbuilding precinct, including design and construction of the nuclear powered submarine construction yard, and the continued operation and maintenance of Common Use Infrastructure.  To support the growth of the team in delivering on this significant program of work, the organisation is now recruiting for this key role.

    Reporting to the Director Major Projects, the Commercial Director is primarily responsible for:

    • leading the delivery of projects, including the management of contractors and service providers, and leading post implementation reviews;
    • developing and implementing best practice commercial and contract functions for a large scale complex project;
    • providing strategic and specific advice to the Project Management Team and ANI Executive on commercial matters relating to contract negotiations;
    • managing dispute avoidance and commercial resolution;
    • monitoring and managing controls and commercial risks to ensure project delivery to the highest industry standards;
    • providing on-the-job training and mentoring of personnel across projects.

    Applications are welcome from suitably qualified candidates with significant experience in infrastructure contract management and driving commercial outcomes in a complex multi-contract environment.  Strong project management knowledge, excellent negotiation skills, extensive leadership experience and well developed influencing, dispute resolution and stakeholder relationship management abilities will also be required.  Experience managing multidisciplinary teams against multiple projects will also be important.
