Formed in 1971 at its iconic North Adelaide site, Carclew is the home of youth arts and creativity.  As Australia’s largest multi-artform cultural institution dedicated to children and young people, Carclew is at the heart of Australia’s youth arts sector.  With a bold new vision and strategic plan, the future for this unique entity is as bright as the young people it serves.

After 3 years of excellent service from the current Chair, Rachel Healy, an opportunity has emerged for an appropriately motivated and experienced individual to build on her legacy, working closely with the highly experienced Board and Chief Executive, Mimi Crowe, to deliver on its mission to connect all children and young people to a world of creative possibilities, as artists, learners and audiences.

Applications are strongly encouraged from accomplished professionals (both affiliated with and outside the cultural community) with a genuine desire to contribute their capabilities to the ongoing governance, future relevance and sustainability of Carclew.  Prior experience in governance, government, philanthropy, strategy, partnerships and stakeholder management complemented by proven commercial and political acumen are necessary for success in this role.  In addition, highly developed relationship, collaboration and influencing skills, sound judgement, energy and authenticity will be important personal attributes for effective leadership of the Board.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with the Board, Executive and dedicated team to make a significant and valuable contribution to this progressive and important SA treasure as it impacts on young lives and the cultural and broader fabric of the State.

Carclew values the unique backgrounds, experiences and contributions that each person brings to the community and encourages and celebrates diversity.  First Nations people, those identifying as LGBTQIA+, people of all ages, with disabilities and culturally and linguistically diverse people are encouraged to apply.
